Strategic Goal: Expanding Access to Quality, Inclusive Education and Skills Training for All Youth
Education is the foundation of empowerment, opportunity, and long-term development. MID-P is dedicated to ensuring that every child and youth, regardless of background or ability, has access to quality learning, inclusive environments, and relevant skills that open doors to meaningful employment and personal growth. Through strengthened school systems, special needs support, protection interventions, and skills development pathways, we work to build a generation that is educated, resilient, and ready to lead communities into a brighter future.
Strengthening Basic Education Management
We support the improvement of primary school governance by building the capacity of School Boards of Managements (BoMs), Parents Associations (PAs), and school leadership structures. Through training, mentorship, and governance enhancement, schools become more accountable, transparent, and better equipped to manage learning environments and promote quality education outcomes.
Inclusive and Special Needs Education Support
MID-P promotes the right to inclusive education by mapping children with disabilities, sensitizing parents, and advocating for the establishment of special units and schools across all sub counties. We also support the expansion of existing special schools to ensure children with special needs access tailored learning, supportive environments, and dignified opportunities to realise their potential.
Supporting Girls and Boys to Enrol, Stay, and Succeed in School
To increase enrolment, retention, transition, and completion rates, we support school feeding programmes, provide bursaries for vulnerable learners, and champion interventions that keep both girls and boys in school. By removing financial, cultural, and environmental barriers, we ensure that all children progress through primary and secondary education successfully.
Campaigning Against Drug Abuse and Harmful Cultural Practices
We spearhead community awareness campaigns to protect youth from drug and substance abuse, early marriage, and other harmful practices that derail education and well-being. Through school clubs, community dialogues, mentorship programmes, and life-skills training, we empower young people to make informed choices, stay safe, and pursue education confidently.
Promoting Youth Skills Development and TVET Enrolment
We encourage and support youth to enrol in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions, technical training institutes, and skills development programs. These pathways equip young people with practical, market-ready skills that open opportunities for employment, innovation, and entrepreneurship in a rapidly changing economy.
Supporting the Competency Based Curriculum (CBC)
MID-P promotes the successful roll-out of the Competency Based Curriculum by enhancing community understanding, supporting schools with necessary resources, and building teacher capacity where possible. The CBC approach equips learners with critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and practical skills essential for success in modern life and work.
