Strategic Goal: Strengthening Good Governance and Civic Participation at the Local Level

We aim to build informed, engaged, and empowered communities that actively participate in governance processes and hold duty bearers accountable. Through civic education, advocacy, peacebuilding, and strategic community mobilization, the program strengthens democratic culture and promotes transparent, equitable, and people-centered development at the county level.

Civic Education and Rights Awareness

Our programmes enhance civic literacy by educating citizens on their social, economic, cultural, and environmental rights. Communities are mobilized to understand their roles in governance, demand accountability, engage in public participation forums, and advocate for inclusive development that reflects the needs of all groups including youth, women, pastoralists, and minorities.

Policy Lobbying and Advocacy

We strengthen community voices and civil society engagement to proactively influence county-level policy formulation and legislative processes. Through targeted advocacy initiatives, stakeholder dialogues, and structured engagements with county leadership, communities help shape policies on resource allocation, service delivery, natural resource management, and social inclusion.

Public Budget Tracking and Accountability

To promote transparency and reduce misuse of public funds, we support communities in tracking budget allocation and expenditure across all devolved funds, including development budgets, emergency funds, and sector-specific allocations. Communities are trained to monitor projects, review budget documents, and engage in public budget hearings to ensure resources deliver real impact.

Peace Building and Social Cohesion

We foster harmony, coexistence, and unity among communities through peace dialogues, cultural exchanges, sports for peace, inter-clan cooperation activities, and symbolic initiatives such as community walks for a common cause. These initiatives reduce conflict, strengthen shared identity, and enhance resilience among diverse groups living in fragile and resource-scarce environments.
